Standards of Learning Assessment Resource
Helps Align Charterhouse to Virginia Standards of Learning.

Charterhouse is committed to academic excellence and preparing our students to reintegrate into public schools. As a part of this commitment Charterhouse School has aligned the school curriculum to the Virginia Standards of Learning. Each core subject, including English, History, Math and Science, has SOL lessons broken into nine week segments. At the end of each nine weeks students are then tested using the SOLAR (Standards of Learning Resource) online testing service.

The first year testing results using SOLAR yielded scores being raised an average of 43 percent. Since using SOLAR the Charterhouse staff have observed that many student take their subject course work more seriously in order to achieve higher scores in SOLAR.
