Standards of Learning Assessment Resource (SOLAR)
helps align Charterhouse to Virginia Standards of Learning.

Charterhouse School is committed to academic excellence and preparing our students to reintegrate into public schools. As a part of this commitment, Charterhouse School has aligned the school curriculum to the Virginia Standards of Learning. Each core subject, including English, history, math and science, has SOL lessons broken into nine-week segments. At the end of each nine-week period, students are tested using the SOLAR (Standards of Learning Assessment Resource) online testing service.

The first-year testing results using SOLAR yielded scores that were raised an average of 43 percent. With SOLAR, the Charterhouse staff have observed that many students take their subject course work more seriously in order to achieve higher scores in SOLAR.
